OUR TRIP TO CHATEAU DE VINCENNES, PARIS 2019
It began as a hunting lodge in the forest of Vincennes in 1150 for Louis VII. In the 13thC Philip Augustus and Louis IX added a more substantial manor house but it was Charles V who built the donjon which would serve as a royal residence for decades to come. It wasn't until Louis XIV set his sights on Versailles that Vincennes became obsolete. Later years saw it serve as a porcelain factory, a state prison and then military headquarters. Now it is a wonderful tourist attraction and well worth a visit!
